Mia Lailani - Do It For You

you would assume that this song is based off another person & that its a love song, based off the title and the lyrics. but really, it's a letter to myself; my younger, current, and future self. I wrote this song as another way of saying "im gonna make you proud". it's about giving my all and trying my best to make the dreams I have come true. the lyrics in this record, in my opinion, are so clever. "I can't promise you forever, but I can swear on this, I know, I'll give you my all". there are a lot of good moments in this song that tell a story. that's also why you hear a throwback audio of little mia (at 2 years old) & my mom as she explains that she's recording the moment so that future mia can look back at it. its a really bittersweet addition to the song that ties together the overall message (if you didn't catch it while listening). I love the placement of it. this song truly sets the tone of my mindset starting 2024. im so excited for the journey to come. cheers to doing it for our younger, current, & future selves 🙂 - mia lailani <3
